“Tales from Russet Grange” was written over a couple of years in my local (and wonderful) Wetherspoons. The book chronicles an entirely fictional golf club, located in Cambridgeshire for some reason (next to an industrial-scale pig farm) which has, since 1897, provided the backdrop to many events featuring its members, staff, volunteers and the occasional visiting golfer or two.
Every character is entirely fictional, and every event described is also entirely fictional too. However, having spent many years as a member, freelancer or a member of staff at various golf clubs, I drew from my experiences to write a collection of short tales that I hope will bring a knowing smile to golfers’ faces across the land.
Within the pages there are 82 characters to be discovered, spread over 34 chapters, each just a few pages long featuring a tale from Russet Grange. Many of the tales involve subjects that will be familiar to most golfers, such as arguments about tee times, complaints about greens, disorder at summer parties, the price of beer, catering ‘issues’, slow play, board meetings and bingo nights.
You can meet a few of the fictional characters involved by hopping over to this page which introduces a cross section of those you’ll encounter throughout the book.

It’s Not For Everyone!
Fair warning here, “Tales from Russet Grange” is a bit ‘laddish’, very silly, extremely non-PC and awash with ‘not out loud’ words. (There’s no raunchy stuff, and there’s no use of the very rudest word. We don’t do that).
